An interview with the incredible artist Joanna Burda

An interview by Sokratis Tsapaliaris
We met the abstract artist Joanna Burda for an exclusive interview about her work.

What role does the artist have in society?
The role of the artist depends mainly on the artist's personality. There are artists who are provokers and they take up topics rather not very popular. There is so much evil in the world so I prefer to present light and color. Creating positive painting is my artistic credo. The audience should feel pleasure looking at art, which should stand for relaxation and pause on a busy day. It is a really great gift to be able to offer positive emotions thanks to the art.
What are you working on at the moment?
For some months I have been working on a new cycle of portraits consisting of 21 oil paintings on canvas as big as 150/100 cm. It is a really huge enterprise , difficult from the technical point of view. I am following the style of old Dutch masters but with contemporary attributes. Of course I can not at this moment reveal all details. Still, it will hang in the center of Warsaw, the capital of Poland.
